According to an article recently completed by Wicked Local Wayland, three local women working in Wayland, Massachusetts, were honored for their contributions to the law profession. The women were acknowledged in a ceremony held on the twenty third of October at the Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel; Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly hosted the ceremony.
The ceremony was created to particularly focus on the women of the area that are seen as the “Top Women of Law,” those who work to promote the success of females in the competitive field of legal studies. Specifically, the “Top Women of Law” award is issued each year at the event to celebrate and recognize any woman who displays outstanding achievements made by particularly noteworthy women in the legal field. At the start of the ceremony, Brenda R. Sharton and Marie E. Chafe were honored as some of Wayland’s top Women of Law for the year. They earned their portion of the title, as their work and contributions to the law allowed them to be seen as pioneers, educators, trailblazers and role models for their exiting coworkers, as well as younger women seeking to join the legal field.
As a final acknowledgement of the ceremony, the members of the local legal profession honored Kimberly E. Winter. Winter was introduced to those gathered as an inductee to the Circle of Excellence during the event—a prestige group maintained by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly. She earned her position based in her continuing professional, civic and mentoring achievements during her years of practice. In addition to her existing efforts within the field of the law, the position was awarded to her based on a recognition of her multiple past nominations as a “Top Women of Law.”
